Solid

waste management (SWM) facility such as waste recycling facility, waste disposal landfill and incinerator, is still mandatory in order to overcome the problem. Land restriction has made the development of solid waste management facility even more difficult. Not to mention the negative respond from the local society. This research is conducted to analyze the relation between the concern of local society and their association with the locals approach to solid waste management facility. The research is conducted at three society categories, the society live near by waste disposal, ordinary society and high-educated society. The result shows different level of concern for each research area. From the factor analysis,

four main factors related to concern were determined and considered as factors related to institution reliability, nuisance from facility, pollution and health effects, and impact to nature. Two factors related to imagery to facility were determined and considered as uncomfortability and unfamiliarity. From discriminant analysis, the result shows that the attitude towards facility (accept or refuse the facility) change precisely as much 55-69% by concern and imagery to facility. Other factors related to attitude towards facility were people’s attribute like education level, and general attitude to SWM like recycling activity, trusting to the institution, and also participation to the facility construction and

development. For the area in conflict with waste management, the concern level is higher and imagery to the facility is more negative than other areas. text
