In production, in addition to the paper produced, wastewater is also generated as an output of the paper production process. Therefore, WWTP (Waste Water Treatment Plant) system is needed to treat wastewater so as not to endanger the environment. This final project will be about planning and design of the new WWTP system. The decision to design a new WWTP system is based on an earlier IPAL evaluation indicating that the existing WWTP is inadequate since the existing WWTP has reached its maximum capability in treating the wastewater generated by the current production system. This is due to an increase in paper production on the existing paper machine and the opening of a new paper machine to increase paper production, therefore, the amount and characteristics of the wastewater generated from the paper production system that goes into the existing WWTP system will also increase. This overloading of wastewater leads to the existing WWTP often experiencing problems in the system and also a decrease of effluent quality of processed wastewater to be discharged into the environment. Therefore, this final project will propose a new WWTP design that can process 20% wastewater load from existing wastewater generation. It is expected that the proposed plan and design of this WWTP system can solve the current problems in the existing WWTP. The ultimate goal of wastewater treatment in WWTP is to produce an effluent that meets the quality standard that has been set in the Decree of the Governor of West Java. 6/1999. The wastewater that will be treated has the characteristic wastewater discharge of 1.004 m3 / s with wastewater density characteristics of 1030 kg / m3, TSS 23041 mg / L, TDS 12296 mg / L COD total 25863 mg / L, dissolved COD 13709 mg / L, BOD total 11234 mg / L, and dissolved BOD 9882 mg / L. The targeted allowance for Suspended Solid, COD and BOD is more than 95% so that it can meet the quality standard. The initial investment required for the new WWTP's construction is Rp 284.556.043.073 text
