The distribution of electrical energy less evenly distributed in the teorritory of Indonesia, more center on the island of Sumatra and Jawa. In fact in the area have a lot of potential resources, such as the biomass that can be converted into electrical energy. One technology that can be used is Stirling motor that is able to work with various types of heat sources. This research is expected to produce a beta type of Stirling engine which has 200 W output capacity with operation temperature range between 300 K up to 750 K. Design the Stirling is done using Schmidt cycle.
Based on the result of calculations, obtained by the dimensions of Stirling engine with theoritical thermal efficienciy of 60% and the using working fluid is Helium. The theoretical thermal efficiency does not take into account the losses that occured during the Stirling engine work. In this research, the main dimension of Stirling motor with main cylinder dimension is 50 mm × 220 mm. In fact, the efficiency of Stirlng engine is affected by the regenerator efficiency. This can be seen that the higher efficiency regenerator, so the efficiency of the Stirling engine will get better.
