Therefore, various studies are required in order to maintain the productivity of hydrocarbons. Methods that are usually applied is EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery). The study which becomes the focus at the moment is chemical injection that appertains to EOR. The chemical which is used in this study is surfactant and sensitivity test is done against surfactant characteristics, rock properties, and injection patterns. <br /> <br /> Field X is a reservoir which has fluid viscosity value of approximately 2 cp, residual oil saturation around 30% after secondary recovery, and API gravity value of approximately 50 API. This reservoir specifications fulfills the EOR screening criteria for surfactant injection, so that the application of surfactant injection might optimally increase the production of this field. Fundamentally, surfactant injection reduces the interfacial tension between oil and water in order to reduce the value of residual oil saturation and more oil can be produced. <br /> <br /> The parameters which are tested in the sensitivity analysis are the value of pore volume to be injected, surfactant concentration, surfactant injection rate, surfactant viscosity function, surfactant IFT function, and the injection pattern : five spot, four spot, or direct line spot. Conceptual model must be constructed to simplify sensitivity study. This model is built base on property of field X model. So then the conceptual model can represent the real condition of lapangan X. The simulation result the most dominant parameter on surfactant design is the change of residual oil saturation that can influence the design result up to 50% compare with the other parameters. For the injection pattern, five spot pattern gain the highest recovery factor value, then four spot pattern in the second position, and in the last position is direct- line spot. The recovery factor for each pattern is 52.54%, 48.16%, and 47.07%. text
