Summary: | Metro Capsule is designed as one of alternatives transportation that serves to overcome the traffic jammed. As one of mass transportation type, the safety aspect of the Metro Capsule especially passenger’s safety must be taken seriously. Therefore various types of testing should be carried out to ensure that Metro Capsules are in good condition and feasible to operate. One of the tests performed is static test.

The static testing process needs to be evaluated against the requirements of JIS E 7105 and Regulation of the Minister of Transportation No. 175 of 2015. To perform this static test requires regulation and standard, test equipment and standard operating procedures in accordance with the design criteria of Metro Capsule. One of the required static test tools is the Universal Test Rig. The function of this tool is to conditioning the Metro Capsule body so that it is ready for static test. The Universal Test Rig design should be capable of supporting various types of static tests consisting of a vertical load test, compression load test, torque load test and three point test.

The method used in designing the Universal Test Rig begins with creating 3D models using SolidWorks 2017 then analyzed its structural’s strength using the ANSYS R16.0 software. Universal Test Rig design consists of vertical guide system, load transfer device and compression force generator. The maximum stress generated from each subsystem is 47,719 MPa, 147,52 MPa amd 210,154 MPa respectively, indicating that the result of the design is safe. Furthermore, standard static operational procedures (SOP) are made special for Metro Capsule to ensure the testing process working smoothly. |
