Description
Summary:Indonesia is one of the country which has the world's largest seismic risk, so buildings in Indonesia should be able to meet the principles and regulations of earthquake-resistant buildings. In the construction of buildings that are now emerging in Indonesia, such as malls, apartment or office building with more than 20 floor that has a flexible nature, usually can not be separated from the infill wall, which is generally regarded as a non-structural element and is considered to have no effect on building behavior in load bearing and do not contribute to the strength and stiffness of the overall structure. After a review of the behavior of some of the structures collapse with wall between the portal after an earthquake, it turns out that there is a response when the load bearing structure has a different behaviour and characteristic than planned, thus the infill wall may have a significant contribution to the performance of the load bearing structure, particularly lateral loads such as earthquake loads.

One type of infill elements are now being widely used, especially in Indonesia is AAC (Autoclaved aerated concrete). AAC is a kind of high-quality lightweight concrete blocks that have various characteristics particular. As a result, aerated lightweight concrete is considered perfect, including building materials that are environmentally friendly, because it is made from abundant natural resources. Are strong, durable, easy to set up, and efficient. However, the study of multi-storey buildings with a AAC infilled frames has not progressed too far, so that this final project will be raised the issue of comparative behavior tall buildings with and without AAC infill walls.

Performance checking method used in this study is the analysis of nonlinear time history dynamic response (non-linear time history analysis) using earthquake data of El-Centro NS (1940) scaled to the Jakarta area with the ground being based on SNI 1726-2012, in addition to the also briefly reviewed the performance of the building by using the static thrust load analysis (pushover analysis).

In this study, there are two models of the structure will be reviewed. The first model (Model A) is building structure in the form of a dual system, which is a fusion between the Special Moment Frame System (SRPMK) with Special Structural Wall Systems (SDSK). While the second building models (Model B) is a model who was given infill walls that has been modeled in such a way in the form of equivalent diagonal strut.

After analysis, the results showed that the installation of the AAC infill walls will lead to a decrease in the contribution period and mode, as well as tend to minimize the value of roof displacement, total story drift , and inter-story drift. While the base shear force on the structure tends to rise at the beginning of the earthquake as a result there is an increase in stiffness, but back down which shows the redistribution of moments from the walls to the other structural elements. In addition, the results of the analysis prove that the amount of plastic hinge which suffered major structural damage also decreased.

In this study, it was found that the analytical results for a particular case, which is a 20-storey reinforced concrete building with multiple systems, installation of autoclaved aerated concrete infill wall will give a response that is relatively better when compared to buildings without installation of AAC infill wall. However, further studies are still needed for the mounting influence of infill walls on the different models of the building.
