After investigating the possible use of various cationic dyes, it was found that malachite green is the best cationic dye for the determination of Cu (II) using chlorobenzene as the organic solvent. The optimum conditions required for the determination of cu (II), obtained in this research, are a pH range of 3,5-6,5; ascorbic acid concentration of 5 x 10-3 M; KC1 concentration of 0,04 M; malachite green concentration of 7,5 x 10-5 N1; while the concentration limit of Cu ( I ) that satisfies the Lambert-beer law is up to 11,54 ug Cu (II) per 5 mL of chlorobenzene. The sensitivity of the proposed method is 0,0125 ug Cu (II) per 5 mL chlorobenzene based on an absorbance reading of 0,0015, whereas the precision of absorbance measurement expressed as standart deviation for eleven observations is s = 0,007 and the. standard deviation for the ug amounts of Cu (II) per 5 mL found is s = 0,097. The ions of Sn (II), Mn (II) Zn (II), Fe (II), Mg (II), Co (II) and Ni (II) do not interfere in this procedure. text |
