Description
Summary:Surface tension is a phenomenon at the molecular level due to the difference in energy between molecules at a fluid interface when compared to their bulk counterparts. Surface tension is one of the physical properties of the fluid measurement techniques have been developed for various purposes because it can provide important information about the interaction of liquid-liquid or liquid with other substances. In addition, this play an important role in the research and development of various industrial processes. One was used use in this study to characterize the membrane. This led to the development of methods for the measurement of surface tension. Nevertheless, most of these methods have drawbacks such as complicated computational methods, longer data retrieval, difficult to achieve convergence, and difficult settings while experimenting. Therefore, developed a new measurement system with automation throughout the system. So, it can be done faster data retrieval, improved accuracy and ease of use. A fully-automatic system for measure surface tension and contact angle was developed using the pendant drop and the sessile drop method based on image processing. The system is equipped with motor control for camera positioning and droplet volume control. Besides that, this system also equipped with temperature control system to optimize the environmental parameters that affect the experiment. In this study, can be obtained the measurement results of surface tension and contact angle of some of the test sample. This paper summarizes the results of the control and measurement under different conditions and characteristics of the samples tested.
