Summary: | Bandung is known as an educative and creative city with young population domination and talented artists. The Contemporary Art Museum Bandung will be functioned as an information resource and a place to fulfill public needs for education, research and recreation facility by exhibiting art collections which are considered as general knowledge. As this Contemporary Art Museum Bandung exists, hopefully there will be an increase in the atmosphere of working creatively and innovatively. By observing location around the project area and interpreting architect’s design, a transportation engineer is expected to be able to design a proper movement inside and outside the building either parking area or access road, including circulation and pavement design. In the process of designing both circulation and pavement thickness, an engineer should consider safety, durability, pleasure, and economic aspects. In order to achieve the objectives, engineer should deal with several challenges such as limited area and architectural or structural design that obstructs circulation lanes. After identifying problems that exist, engineer made a quick judgement to change the previous parking layout and access road from architect’s design. Whereas Parking Design Manual 1996 and Policy on Geometric Design of Highway and Streets are codes used as geometric design references, Flexible Pavement Design Manual Pd-T-01-2002-B. To complete design output of The Contemporary Art Museum Bandung, lower structure of The Contemporary Art Museum Bandung including two-story basement is also designed based on SNI 1726-2012, AISC 341 and AISC 358. The upper structure may have an elastoplastic behavior when an earthquake occurs. However, the lower structure must remain elastic. Thus, the structure is analyzed as a separated system between upper structure and lower structure. Forces transferred to the lower structure should be increased 1.8 times due to the regulation mentioned in SNI 1726-2012. |
