Description
Summary:Geothermal is a renewable energy which considerably has a potential to be developed in Indonesia. Geothermal energy is an alternative to overcome the human needs for energy that is increasing while the availability of fossil fuel is dwindling. One of the geophysical method used for exploring geothermal is gravitational method. The goal of this study is to carry out inversion of gravity data in 'D' geothermal field prospect area to find the distribution of subsurface density contrast. Inversion is done in this study using the linear inversion and Uncontrained. The inversion is applied to the residual anomaly data. Uncontrained 2D inversion in this study generate subsurface density contrast between -0.8 g/cm3 to 0.6 g/cm3. Where the density contrast line A-A' is -0.5 g/cm3 to 0.6 g/cm3, the density contrast line B-B' is -0.8 g/cm3 to 0.4 g/cm3, the density contrast line C-C' is-0.4 g/cm3 to 0.7 g/cm3, the density contrast line D-D' is 0 g/cm3 to 0.55 g/cm3, while the density contrast line E-E' is -0.1 g/cm3 to 0.1 g/cm3. Distribution of the density contrast at the point of intersection of line A-A’, line C-C' and line D-D' has the same value. The value of the density contrast in intersection point of line A-A’ and line C-C' is 0.1 g/cm3 to 0.6 g/cm3, the value of the density contrast in intersection point between line A-A' and D-D' is 0.2 g/cm3 to 0.5 g/cm3.
