It is designed to become the second primary center. It is also known for its strong impression as a waterfront city. Because it has a low topography, its development needs to be supported by adequate infrastructures in order to prevent flood, especially flood from the micro drainage system. The micro drainage system means that only the drainage of the project area is included. One of the infrastructures is the stormwater drainage system which must be followed by the flood prevention, whether structural or non-structural efforts. The non-structural effort can be done by using a water conservation in order to reduce the amount of water which is drained to its channel and recipient. The structural effort can be done by building a system to hold out the rainfall for a while (a rainfall retention facility). The drainage system will be used in a 500 acres project area which is divided into four regions. The regions consist of settlement, recreation and sport, business, and commercial area. The drainage channel has a trapezoid shape and it also has rock lining on each side. An artificial recharge is used to conserve water, specially water from the rain that falls on the roof and garden of a house. This can be done because the soil is capable enough to infiltrate water which is shown from the infiltration coefficient, k = 2.76 x 10-3 cm/second. The rainfall retention facility that is used to overcome the micro flood is a retention pond. This 24 acres pond is located in the center of the city and may have the possibility to become the recreation place for people who live there. The water from the retention pond is drained to a recipient river nearby the pond. By planning a water conservation and a retention pond, the runoff coefficient of Kawasan Kota Baru Gedebage can be reduced from 0.71 to 0.4. text
