This complex is very useful for diagnose of infarction, ischemia, and cancer. Synthesis study of MIBI is designed with tert– butanol as a main precursor. Dehydration of tert–butanol by concentrated sulfuric acid was conducted in temperature 75 oC to form gasseous isobutylene. This gasseous product then directly passed into bromine solution in methanol. This process was occured in separated flask under room temperature and yielded 91,70 % crude product in liquid form. NMR spectra of this crude product shows that there are 1-bromo-2-methyl-2-methoxypropane (MIBBr) and 1–bromo–2–methylpropan–2–ol in 2:3 mixture. All products are caracterized using 1H-NMR dan 13C-NMR spectroscopy. text
