PUBLIC AND TOURISTS PERCEPTION OF PANGANDARAN BEACH ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY

Pangandaran Regency has a special attraction in the area of beach tourism. After becoming a new districts, the number of visitors to the beach pangandaran reached 1.2 million visitors in 2013, and decrease the number of visitor to 946 580 people in 2014, based on these, there needs to be an effort to increase the number of visitors and reduce the negative impacts of tourism. The perception of the public and tourists needed to know what aspects which became the main attraction, which needs to be improved, and which needs to be maintained, by considering the environmental changes around the tourist areas. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The purpose of this study to determine the performance quality of the environment and the expectations or the importance of environmental quality as perceived by the public and tourists area of Pangandaran beach, so that the results can be known recommendations to improve the environmental quality of coastal tourism and then will increase tourist satisfaction. The number of samples taken based formula slovin with sig. 0.1, obtained the number of travelers sample of 97 samples and 98 community/public sample. for community/public samples taken in two villages of Pananjung and Pangandaran. The analysis used is descriptive analysis of the characteristics of the public and tourists, the evaluation of the results of the perception of the public and tourists to environmental quality using analysis Importance Performance Analysis, while analysis of the difference in perception between the public and tourists to use different test-gap and the different test populations used Wilcoxon sum rank test or man whitney u test. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The study shows, there are 23 of the 44 attributes are performing more poorly by society than by tourists. whereas for the differences in perception between the public and tourists in assessing environmental quality Pangandaran beach tourism, there are 23 of the 44 attributes are valued differently by tourists and the community. The evaluation results using the IPA can be made recommendations for improving the environmental quality of Pangandaran Beach to boost tourism growth, taking into account the negative impact of tourism is felt by the public.
