One type of EOR is Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery (MEOR) is a method to increase oil production by using chemical compounds produced by microbes. There two ways to perform MEOR, with injected microbes/nutrients from production well and injected nutrient/microbes from injection well. The method used by the author in this study is MEOR huff and puff (microbial stimulation). <br />

The advantage of using microbial stimulation is to reduce costs because it does not require other well to injected microbes/nutrient into the reservoir. Microbial stimulation also handles the problems occurred near wellbore because of skin caused by scaling that affects the permeability value near wellbore. The mechanism of microbial stimulation may possibly reduce interfacial tension and change the rock wettability also has reduced oil viscosity. Parameters such as injection rate and nutrient fraction can affect the cumulative production of oil. |
