Water saturation equation that is often used is the Archie equation for clean sand. The existence of shale causes the water saturation values are often incompatible with the true value. New equation continues to be developed for shaly sand layer as a correction of the Archie equation. The presence of shale in the reservoir is causing disruption to the reading of the log. Differences of shale distribution model also affect the response of the log that will affect the calculation of saturation. <br /> <br /> In this study the calculation of the value of water saturation is done using log data. For acoustic log data <br /> <br /> correction prior to taking into account the travel time matrix Vshale and the resistivity data is used is the deep resistivity. Water saturation values calculated for the various conditions of the distribution of shale (laminated, structural and dispersed) and its influence on the amount of initial hydrocarbons calculated. <br /> <br /> The study shows that the presence of shale and shale distribution model affect the readings of the log and <br /> <br /> generate different interpretations, different shale distribution model causes uncertainty of the water <br /> <br /> saturation values that affecting value of estimated reserve. text
