Description
Summary:The influence of water aeration on the Sevin toxicity was studied. Biological monitoring may be considered a means of assesing the strength or toxicity of a material or effluent using living organisms as sensors. Spills of toxic materials into bodies receiving agricultural waste discharges can be prevented only if frequent of continous assessment of effluent quality can be made. This study evaluates the possibility of using the water aeration to the toxicity reduction of Sevin insecticide. The toxicity monitoring system is followed by a fish mortality and residue analysis to monitor of toxicity Sevin after it was aerated. The bioassay have played a significant role in regulating agricultural effluent. The bio-assay showed that the aeration in the proper substrate gave a good result. After 96 hours aeration a fish mortality was zero in the activated sludge substrate.(A2 & A4). Thin-layer chromatographic methods for the determination of Sevin insecticide was used, it showed that after 96 hours aeration in the activated sludge substrate, the residue reduction was about 87-90 per cent and 82-88 per cent from the initial concentration is 50 and 100 ppm respectively. But in the 192 hours aeration, it was undetected. Aerobic biological processes can be play an important role in an integrated water treatment process
