Summary: | The Citarum River is widely regarded as one of the largest rivers in Indonesia, supporting clean water needs in West Java and the capital city of DKI Jakarta. However, the Citarum River is also considered one of the most polluted rivers in the world. This contradiction is certainly most felt by people living along the river Citarum river, especially in the upper part of the river. In order for people living in the upper river to coexist with the river itself, there must be community-based environmental protection, so that it can be implemented by the community itself to the smallest level. Community Based Environmental Protection (CBEP) is a concept introduced by the United States Environmental Energy Peoples Agency (EPA). The CBEP emphasizes collaborative, hollistic environmental decision making that is appropriate to meet the needs of particular communities in their efforts to address environmental challenges. This research seeks to identify principles of US EPA's community-based environmental protection, on a well-designed framework for environmental protection for Indonesians, with Rancamanyar Village case study, Bandung District. Thus, it can help communities to do environmental conservation independently, thus ensuring health and sanitation for their communities. |
