Summary: | Miscible flooding, in particular CO2 miscible flooding, is regarded as the most promising process for enhanced oil recovery. The industry interest in CO2 flooding is evidenced by the large number of field applications which have been initiated in the last three decades. The primary objective in a miscible gas injection method is to displace oil with a fluid that is miscible with oil at the condition existing at the interface between the injected fluid and the oil bank being displaced. LPG slug injection has been regarded as one of the method to attain miscibility with the reservoir oil. By injecting LPG, the CO2 gas becomes miscible with the oil and displaces it from the reservoir rock towards the production wells. <br />

The determination of production performance as a result of CO2 – LPG flooding in the reservoir was acquired by numerical simulation using Schlumberger Simulation Launcher, Eclipse. The sensitivity analysis was attained in the composition of injected fluid with different rate. The result of the sensitivity analysis is presented in the profile of oil production rate and the recovery factor obtained in the reservoir. <br />

In this study, the injection of CO2 will be mixed with LPG in order to achieve miscibility easier in lower injection rate. The simulation is done with 3 different rates: 2 MMSCFD, 5 MMSCFD and 10 MMSCFD with different composition of CO2 and LPG. The result of the study shows that the mixing of 50% CO2 and 50% LPG with injection rate 10 MMSCFD give the most optimum result with recovery factor 81.40%. |
