Effluents from textile industry contains high amounts of metal, especially cadmium, chromium, copper, and lead that are harmful to living things. Utilization of aquatic plants for wastewater treatment is an economical method of wastewater treatment contaminated by heavy metals. Therefore, to reduce the content of heavy metal in the Cikakembang River, it is done phytoremediation by using two different methods, the application of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) using continuous system (field) and the application of kiapu (Pistia stratiotes L.), salvinia (Salvinia molesta), and water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) using batch system (laboratory). The content of heavy metals Cd, Cr, Cu, and Pb in the water and the plants were measured using Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES). The result showed that is comparison of reduction metal between continuous and batch systems. The data showed that in the continuous systems, water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) can eliminate Cd 74.68%. In the batch system, the water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) effectively reduce 92.63% Cd, 62.11% Cu, and 62.21% Pb on exposure of 50% river water, as well as 57.95% Cr and Cu 88, 18% on exposure of 100% river water. Kiapu (Pistia stratiotes L.) is effective to reduce 87.92% Cr on exposure of 50% river water. Salvinia (Salvinia molesta) is effective to reduce the Cd and Pb 32.29% 84.60% on exposure of 100% river water. text
