Description
Summary:Papaya seeds has high oil content range from ±30% by it dry weight. The most fatty acid content in papaya seeds is oleic acid that is one of unsaturated fatty acids, so this oil can be used as vegetable oil for cosmetic raw materials, food and also medicines. Based on literature, plant has different physiology response to different climate, so this study is done on papaya California varieties with different planting location with different climate condition. The productivity of papaya seeds calculated based on numbers of tree/tree/4 months multiplied with seeds biomass in every papaya fruits. In the extraction process of papaa seeds, first seeds are separated from the gelatin, and then dired in oven until the weight of the seeds is constant. The extraction is done by soxhlet equipment with nhexane as a solvent with operational temperature 70-80 &#7506;C for 4-5 hours. The oil and then characterized with density test, acid number test and saponification test. After that, the compotition of the fatty acids are analyzed by Gas Chromatography. From this study, the productivity value of papaya seeds oil from three different planting location (Bandung, Banjar dan Bogor) are 0,819 ; 0,682 ; 0,625 ton/ha/years. <br />
