As we know, consolidation usually happens in the saturated soft clay due to loading. The settlement of consolidation can cause the damage to the structure above the soils if it is not analyzed correctly. <br /> This thesis will discuss the problem of soil settlement that occurs in Project Preparation Land in PLTU Pangkalan Susu. Soft soil in the location has thick layers. So, it is necessary to use the method of soil improvement such as The System of Pile & Grid-Mattress’s Bamboo to increase the soil bearing capacity and Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD) to accelerate the consolidation time. Embankment’s loading is given in order to create the consolidation of soft soil, as well as it also increases the bearing capacity of soft soil after that. The height of embankment that used must be varies in order to achieve the elevation requirements that are requested before. The prediction of the consolidation settlement is calculated by Terzaghi Method for one-dimensional consolidation and also by using Finite Element Method (Plaxis 2D) for modelling. <br /> In general, the consolidation settlement which analyzed with Terzaghi Method is bigger than the settlement which analyzed with Finite Elemen Method. In addition, the utilization of The System of Pile & Grid-Mattress’s Bamboo can increase the soil bearing capacity and increase the safety factor in preloading process. text |
