Description
Summary:The waste generation in Indonesia has increased, reaching 64 million ton/year in 2015 and 69% of the waste just dumped into direct landfill. The figures showed that Indonesian people still “Collect-Transport-Disposed” their waste. Recycling efforts have been known to be a fairly effective way to reduce waste discharge on landfill. However, it is in fact still found waste in landfill is still potentially to be recycled. Material Recovery Facility (MRF) is a waste management facility that aims to cultivate the waste and put it back with the aim of reducing the amount of waste generated. The design is a typical design of MRF with the capacity of 50 ton/day in Leuwigajah landfill. The waste input will be from household domestic waste especially inorganic waste with the composition is 48.27%. The chosen alternative of MRF consist of pre-mechanical treatment for bag opening, separation technology for screening using a trommel screen, moving conveyor belt using material type flat and incline conveyor type crossbars, manual sorting, magnetic separator using magnetic pulley, and eddy current separator. Mechanical size reduction using shear shredder, compaction process using horizontal baler, and additional facilities such as office, workshop, parking, post security, drainage, as well as the access roads that are equipped with weighbridge. Total area of MRF is 0.574 Ha. MRF process produces recycled materials that have been disaggregated by total waste on recovery of 36.329 tons/day, total residues of 13.671 tons/day, recovery system is 93.41%, purity of the material recovery is 100%, and efficiency of the system of 93.41%.
