Summary: | Earthquake potential that may occurred in the city of Bandung should be a concern. Considering the lembang fault that stretches from the west to the east along the ± 22 km. Fault is located in the northern city of Bandung and needs detail research and earthquake mitigation.

To determine the potential threat of seismic hazard in the city, then in this study GPS observations is conducted to understand the deformation around lembang fault. GPS observations are carried out periodically from 2006 - 2011, and continuously from 2008 - 2014. Deformation can be seen if the position of one point is measured continuously or periodically. If there is a change of the coordinate, then the velocity estimation of the observed point which is the movement per time scale can be calculated with linear approximation.

The result of this study shows that lembang fault divided into two segments. The sites around the lembang fault is moving with respect to sundaland block in 0 mm/year to 7 mm/year. The GPS sites on north and south of lembang fault move in the same direction. This movement may caused by the pangandaran earthquake in 2006 since the data used for this study is collected after the earthquake. Further research is needed to study the movement and deformation of lembang fault. |
