Competition and art awards that took place in Indonesia present in the history of the development of the Indonesian social scene art. In every competition and art award there are elements of coaching, appreciation, and promotion of artwork through gift giving. In the implementation there are dynamics related to the social conditions of his day. Therefore, this study raised about the dynamics that occurred around the implementation of competition and the award of Indonesian art. In this case will be taken a sample of 'Great Art Exhibition', 'Biennale Jakarta', 'Indonesia Art Award'. This gift event was present since the New Order era. <br /> <br /> <br /> This research will inventory data in the form of archives, mass media, catalogs, and writings related to condition, opinion, and discourse about competition and art award. The data will then be arranged sequentially year after year and data interpretation is done by connecting with data about Indonesian art field. After that will be done writing the revocation based on historical facts of competition and the award of Indonesian art. This revocation aims to see the dynamics that occur in the implementation of competitions and art awards, followed by reviewing the impact of competition and art awards in the field of fine arts Indonesia. This research will use historical research methods to analyze the competition and art awards in the field of Indonesian fine arts, by looking at the relationship of the New Order as the social history setting of the prize-giving event. <br /> <br /> <br /> The holding of competitions and art awards becomes a meeting place between a need for achievement on the artist side, recognition of expertise in the jury side, and proof of the love of art for philanthropists who play a role in the administration of gift giving. In this case gift event is a venue full of prestige that is able to provide status for the elements involved. PBSLI, Biennale Jakarta, and PMIAA took place in a different New Order phase. PBSLI and Biennale were in the golden age of the New Order, while PMIAA was in a period leading to the collapse of the New Order. <br /> <br /> <br /> By arranging the history of the competition and the award of fine arts it is seen that the award in Indonesia has 3 (three) development period. The period of measurement and inventory of Indonesian artists, the period of showing the achievements of Indonesian artists, and the period of alignment with regional / international. <br /> <br />
