In this research, wet torrefaction was applied for cabbage, banana fruit bunch stem, and market organic waste represented by the mixture of cabbage and banana fruit bunch stem as feedstocks according to the survey results in Caringin Market. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Wet torrefaction is a thermal process that uses water in high temperatur and pressure. The experiment was conducted at laboratorium scale reactor. The temperatur range of 150-225 °C, biomass to water ratio of 1:3–1:5, and residence time of 30-90 minutes were used in the experiment. According to the results, an increase in NPK and heating value at higher operating temperatur is always followed by an increase in energy required. The facts lead to a conclusion that process parameter optimization is needed. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Wet torrefaction of these samples produced solid products with heating value of 14.67-17.64 MJ/kg and NPK content of 1.69-5.13%. The operating temperatur of 225 °C, residence time of 30 min, and biomass to water ratio 1:3 were chosen as the optimum process parameters for banana fruit bunch stem. The optimum process parameters for cabbage and market organic waste were at 200 °C temperatur, 30 min residence time and 1:3 ratio of biomass to water. The results showed that the market organic waste can be utilized by applying wet torrefaction to produce solid fuel with minimum energy requirement and liquid fertilizer with adequate NPK content. <br /> text |
