Summary: | Cauliflower is one of the annual plants of crucifer used to cultivate in Indonesia. Curd , the part of this species consumed by people, has the circle and white form called flower mass. To increase the production of cauliflower could be done by intensification of using the good varieties and modifying the microclimate to reach the optimum growth. The use of plastic shade hopefully can modify the microclimate such as light intensity and air temperature to give an optimum growth of plant conditions. The aim of this research is to know the effect of transparent plastic shade on growth and yield of some cauliflower varities. This research conducted in PT East West Seed Indonesia’s land in Cisarua, Lembang from Mei to July 2017 with the latitude 1176 meter above sea level. The research was carried on through split-plot design with three replicates. Factor studied are shading as the main plots consisting of non-shading and transparent plastic shading, and cauliflower varieties as subplot consisting Aquina, number 9477 and number 9491. Observed variable is the increase in the number of plant height and leaf, chlorophyll content, weight, diameter and sturdniness of the curd, and Vitamin C content of curd. The results showed transparent plastic shading treatment give a better result on plant height, number of leaf and total chlorophyll content but has no significant effect on curd height, diameter, compactness and vitamin C content. Aquina varieties with shade treatment give the best result of cauliflower growth with number of plant height 63 cm, number of leaf 24 and chlorophyll content 14,24 mg/L. The highest average of curd weight and diameter produce by Aquina varieties with 492 gr and 21 cm. 9477 varieties with nonshading treatment has the highest curd sturdiness and vitamin C content by 2.95 kgf/m and 38.85 mg/100 g. There is not a significant interaction between shading and varieties in any growth and yield parameter of cauliflower. <br />
