Description
Summary:Mineral water consumption in Idonesia is still relatively low that caused the phenomenon of dehydration in the society. This is shown in a research by The Indonesian Regional Hydration Study in 2009 that resulted in 49% of Indonesian teenagers suffered from mild dehydration. The fact was later worsened by Indonesia’s rank in 5th place of biggest carbonated drinks consumers, 7th place of obesity and 10th place diabetes prevalence in the world based on Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation in 2014. Therefore, the need to educate people about its danger since young age is urgent, for those who are in 4th - 6th grades of elementary school as they are in the last phase to pursue the best potential in body development as well as form their taste and mind set. The media needed to convey the knowledge by learning while playing can be achieved through edugame as the platform that matches the idea. The goal of this edugame is to be the learning platform about carbonated drinks danger for the students so that they can be more selective in choosing their drinks consumptions. The data collected from interview with the nutrionist, questionnaire filled by 50 elementary students and literature study about edugame, carbonated drinks and elementary students’ learning process. The concept of the edugame is to visualize mineral water as the hero character that have to defeat additive substances, the evil characters, to protect body from dehydration and obesity. This edugame is hoped to be the media that can deliver the dangers of additives substances in a more fun way so that the elementary students can understand and choose healthier drinks.
