Summary:Asbuton rock asphalt is now being produced in the form of micro-asbuton, a material passing sieve no. 16 i.e 1.19 mm. Butonite mastic is a mortar comprising of micro-asbuton, 60 pen grade refinery bitumen and flux agent. <br /> <br /> This thesis describes a laboratory investigation of wearing course mix made three compositions of butonite mastic mortar. For purposes of comparison, the characteristics of a mix made with 60 pen grade refinery bitumen (conventional mix) were also determined.
