Description
Summary:Surfactant flooding is one of chemical enchanced oil recovery used to extract residual oil in the oil field. Generally, the enchanced oil recovery using surfactant flooding is started after secondary recovery unable to extract more oil from the reservoir. The most common secondary recovery that is used is water injection or waterflooding due to economic reasons. However, in a particular case, i.e. oil-wet reservoir, where the oil tend to cover the reservoir rock easier than water, water injection will not be efficient. The nature of surfactant that decrease the interfacial tension between oil-water, surfactant injection can maximize the oil extraction.

This paper will present the study of enhanced oil recovery using surfactant flooding on thin layer reservoir.Thin reservoir is one of many cases where horizontal well is frequently used. The use of horizontal well will make the oil extraction more efficient because of its greater drainage area than in the vertical well. Surfactant injection as an enhanced oil recovery method will be done using vertical injection well. Then, sensitivity study will be conducted on producer and injector distance, injector and injector distance, injection rate, and surfactant concentration. The use of vertical-horizontal pattern has proven to enhance the oil recovery factor significantly.
