Description
Summary:Belawan is the center of marine traffic in North Sumatra. Activity on the dock is very busy plus plan to build the plant and the addition of heavy equipment

by PELINDO. This plan was hindered because there is no accurate data structure of the caisson (pier buffer). Geophysical method can accurately describe the caisson's structure. The method which used in this case is Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). GPR method is very efficient because it can describe the subsurface concrete structure correctly with high resolution . The study of caisson structure start with data acquisition. The tool which used is GPR unshielded 150 MHz. Data processing do by Reflexw. Assisting in making the appropriate processing steps, we do forward modeling by ReflexW. The results then inverted by doing the processing by Reflexw. Helping interpretation, we made laboratory models that similar with subsurface conditions under the pier. By observing the response of a laboratory model from georadar image, we identify the response of georadar image at the bottom of the dock. Observating location very helpful for data interpretation because GPR tool records object on the surface too. In addition the log data by Medan Drilling Geotechnic and Structure Engineering also used for data interpretation. Secondary data told orally by PELINDO about caisson structure also used for helping interpretation.
