Description
Summary:In-depth study of behaviors is crucial in understanding one's travel behavior and its factors. This study utilizes an extension of the theory of reasoned action approach to identify factors that affect the motorists’ behavioral intention toward future LRT (Metro Capsule) usage along with its supporting TDM in Bandung. Observation were conducted to determine the TDM corresponding to the location of the study, and questionnaire survey on responses related to LRT and TDM. Responses were collected from 211 (residentials, offices, and commercials) motorist conducting activities at the location of the study (Stasiun Bandung, Pasar Baru, and Gatot Subroto). TDM obtained from the study, which is used as TDM supporting LRT is parking management. The survey was conducted on basis of psychological constructs including, attitudes, perceived norms, and perceived behavioral control, as well as the policy specific beliefs constructs, including acceptability, fairness, and effectiveness of TDM. With structural equation modeling, it was found that from TRAA constructs, only perceived behavioral control and perceived norms, significantly influenced the behavioral intention. While related to acceptability which is the construct of the policy specific belief of the extension of the theory, has a significant influence on the intention and this construct is influenced by the fairness. The outcome of this study helps to understand travel behavior that can be used to determine the appropriate transport policy.
