Several factors, including the human resources, raw materials, and the technology used, can be reasons why the product of a company is unable to meet the requirements of a standard. In particular, most of the firms of the domestic industries are not ready in terms of technology such as equipment and machinery. This study aims to develop measurements for evaluating the level of readiness of technoware with respect to the requirements of a product standard using the method of quality function deployment (QFD). In particular, opinions of experts from both governmental officers that are responsible for setting and implementing the standards and the practitioners from the industries who managing manufacturing processes were elicited as key inputs of the QFD, and analytic hierarchy process (AHP), a multi-attribute decision analysis tool, was integrated with the model of QFD to prioritize the actions that should be taken to improve the capability of the firms to fulfill the standard. Results of this study are expected to shed light on the linkage between the requirements of the standard and the readiness of technoware, and to help reducing the perception gaps of the government officers and the practitioners in the industries. text
