FARMSCAPE AGRITOURISM RESORT IN CIHANJUANG RAHAYU

The transformation of large-scale functions of plantation or agriculture land into a tourism destination often happens and become a trend nowadays. This phenomenon makes many farmers lost their farmland and are marginalized. This agritourism resort is a respond of the development of tourism potential with the potential of local farmers. It is expected that the agritourism activity can enhance tourism development and improve of the farmer’s life quality. Cihanjuang Rahayu Agritourism Resort is located in Ciwangun Cihanjuang Rahayu, Parongpong, West Bandung regency. The present project is fictitious with the farmer’s initiative as the landlord, and a Private developer as the private sector who financing the fund. This agritourism resort is managed by the community of farmers and the people who live at the area. This resort has many facilities with many functions such as supporting agritourism facility, house of the residents with homestay facility, and villa. Related to those indications above, this agritourism resort is designed through the ‘farmscape’ concept. Farm means agriculture and scape means scenery. Through this concept, there is a philosophy to make the design looks like an agricultural landscape from the elongated south to the north site. Moreover, by choosing agriculture and tourism as the main theme, the spaces which is formed will be concentrated on agriculture and tourism activities which is related to the agriculture. Carrying locality in the activity, the mass building form of this agritourism resort is dominated by folded roof which makes new identity to the site. The use of steel structure and bamboo are chosen as a respond of Cihanjuang Rahayu environment which have a fairly steep slope land and prone to earthquake.
