The children are often encouraged to play in the house, because the play facilities unaffordable (Megasari, 2014). It is happens almost in all urban communities throughout Indonesia, especially in Medan. Street corridors and open spaces in Medan rarely provide space for children to play and to move safely. In fact, the children as indicator of better livability in urban area (Chawla, 1997). If the children and disabilities people can move easily, comfortably and safely, the quality of the livability is very good. So, the normal adults can be automatically feels the same (Lynch, 1977). Location of the design at Pulo Brayan district in Medan. There are many schools from kindergarten grade until senior high school grade. So, each street corridor has a high intensity passed by the children. The thesis aim to create a child friendly street corridor model and ensure child safety and security on the street and provide public open space to accommodate children’s activity. Design method using the synoptic method (Shirvani, 1985; Lang,1994). The findings for designing a child-friendly street corridor should make the street corridor as a public space. The Aspects that must be considered to make the street corridor as a child-friendly public space that is safety, fun, place to spend free time and biodiversity. text
