Description
Summary:When high pressure injection fluid injected into reservoir rocks, then some fractures will break out accompanied by emergence of microearthquake events. This process usually called as hydraulic fracturing. Injection fluid process in Malabar area Wayang Windu geothermal field intends to look fractures orientation in that area, so it can be used as reference in determining further drilling point.

A number of 12 seismometers installed in Malabar area to record microearthquake events from hydraulic fracturing. Observation for 44 days has collected 126 microearthquake events. From that seismic data, fractures orientation can be determined from hipocenters location. In this study, same data used as input for advanced study, that is application of double difference

tomography method (Zhang and Thurber, 2003). This method use relative arrival time (cross correlation data and differential catalog data) and absolute (catalog data) to simultaneously relocating earthquake coincide with calculating 3-D velocity model, both P wave velocity (Vp) and S wave velocity (Vs), also comparison between that two velocity (Vp/Vs). Determining of initial microearthquake location did by using Geiger method. That method generate initial location data and origin time, further more used as input for tomoDD software. Differential catalog data was obtained by using ph2dt software. Tomography inversion results show existence of low anomaly S wave velocity (Vs), moderate anomaly P wave velocity, and also high Vp/Vs ratio at 1.5 to 2 km depth in the east - west and north - south cross section close to the edge of injection well. This thing may

associate with the existence of fluid injection from the injection well in Malabar area. The microearthquake from relocation process located at 1.8 to 2.5 km depth (relative to the reference point = 2147 meters above msl). Generally, fluid flow to northeast direction.
