STUDY OF HYDRODYNAMICS AND SEDIMENTATION IN BALONGAN PORT, INDRAMAYU, WEST JAVA

This study aims to examine and analyze the hydrodynamic and sedimentation patterns that occur around the Balongan Port pool due to tidal, wave, and river flow around the harbor pool during the east and west seasons. The results of this study are expected to provide an overview of sediment movement o...

In addition other parameters are also incorporated in accordance with field measurement data. Model results are then verified using existing field data. Then the basic hydrodinamics and morphological analysis was analyzed to see the sediment movement and the influence of river flow in the study area.

The simulation results show that the current moves northwestward during high tide and toward the southeast at low tide with a maximum speed of 0.11 m / s. The tidal currents in the coastal area are relatively small due to the large friction of the base and are hindered by coastal protection structures. Abrasion persists on both sides of the harbor in both the east and west seasons. During the eastern seasons, the dominant wave from the east (1.15 meters) generates long shore current to the northwest with a maximum speed of 0.6 m / s and generates sediment transport moving from the southeast port to the northwest. As the east seasons the sediments are able to move past the harbor jetty and cause siltation at the port's mouth by 11 cm and 8 cm in the harbor pool. The river system is important in providing sediment inputs both in the east and west seasons seen from relatively small deposits where the river system is turned off. text
