Summary: | Indonesia is a maritime country with a maritime vision of Indonesia as the global maritime axis. One of the pillars to realize this maritime vision is the development of the national maritime industry. To undertake the development in the maritime sector, a benchmark is needed to see the portrait of the existing maritime industry. Portrait of the existing maritime industry here means their economic contribution to the national economy. Therefore, the purpose of this final project is to provide an overview of the maritime industry sector of 34 provinces in Indonesia, which is assessed based on their economic contribution to the national economy. In addition, to obtain the knowledge about the position of the national maritime industry between the regional states, a comparison of this sector between the neighboring countries is also made. <br />

The result of the research is the total economic contribution from the maritime sector in Indonesia is 9.87% of total national GDP: 4.8% from oil and gas subsector, 3.2% from fishery subsector, and 1.8% from shipping and port subsector. And as the comparison with the selected neighbors' countries, Indonesia’s maritime industry sector is placed at the third rank amongst Brunei Darussalam, Singapore, Philippines, and Malaysia.
