In accordance with the masterplans of both Tangerang city and PT. KAI 2020, the Batuceper Station and Poris Plawad Terminal will be connected into a single integrated transportation district. The goal of the design study of the Intermodal Station at Poris Plawad Tangerang is to solve the problem of disconnected public transportation modes and to help relieve the traffic in Tangerang and Jakarta.

The construction will take place above a thick layer of very soft clay soil. Soft clay soil tends to have a high degree of consolidation. Thus, soil improvement is required before construction to accelerate the consolidation process and improve soil shear strength. Analysis results show that the most suitable method of soil improvement is with preloading and prefabricated vertical drains (PVD). With the use of preloading, there will be an increase in effective stress on soil that will trigger the consolidation process. This process is accelerated by the PVD by shortening the drainage path so that the excess pore pressure will dissipate more quickly. Soil improvements with preloading and PVD was analyzed to accelerate the consolidation process into 5 months.

The foundations of the station and hub are driven piles designed with the specifications of 600 mm in diameter and depths of 20 and 30 meters. The group pile configuration that are used are between 2 to 4 piles per group. The lateral deformation which occurs are between 1 to 19 mm for all the loading conditions. The group pile settlement ranges between 6 to 48 mm and all of them fulfills the requirement (<1/300) thus the design of tie beams is done using the minimum rebar requirements. text
