EEG DATA ANALYSIS FOR NORMAL CASE AND EPILEPSY CASE BASED AVERAGING AND FAST FOURIER TRANSFORM

The brain is an organ that controls the entire nervous system of the human body. Brain works using the electrical system. Epilepsy, is a brain function disorder that occurs when there is abnormal electrical activity in a group of nerve cells in the brain. Therefore, electroencephalogram (EEG), which...

Therefore, electroencephalogram (EEG), which measures electrical activity of the brain can be used as epilepsy diagnosis tool, to help doctor diagnose epilepsy. Since amplitude of the EEG signal recording is low, EEG signal has noises. In order to reduce the noises and to reduce the number of samples, the EEG signal in interval 125 data points are averaged. Fast Fourier Transform is applied to generate FFT spectrum that will be used to compare normal patients and epilepsy patients.

Among the cases and the selected electrode channels that are used in this study, minimum frequencies are found as the differences. On epilepsy case of channel F7 and channel T3, minimum frequency is found in 50 Hz., On contrary, minimum frequency of normal case for both channels is found in 87.5 Hz. Minimum frequency of epilepsy case of channel O1 is found in 100 Hz. On contrary, minimum frequencies of normal case of channel O1 are found in 50 Hz, 62.5 Hz. And 87.5 Hz.
