Description
Summary:ABSTRACT

The pedestrian walk network system, including the skywalk, have already been planned in the RDTR Kota Bandung 2015-2035. The skywalk was planned to connect Jalan Gelap Nyawang to Cihampelas and initially aimed to reduce the number of vehicles and PKL at Jalan Cihampelas. In Januari 2017, Teras Cihampelas was officially open for public as a pedestrian bridge which adopt the concept of open space and also as the relocation place for PKL. However, Teras Cihampelas doesn’t reduce the number of the vehicles. It does, in fact, generate even more vehicles as it becomes a new tourist attraction. Teras Cihampelas generates as many as 232 cars and 406 motorcycles per hour on the weekend. In addition, the shopping center under Teras Cihampelas also generates 285 cars per hour. At the same time, the number of parking supply in the area is limited and most have been occupied by factory outlets and stores. There is a potential parking area of 2.669,35 m2. The recommended parking management strategies are controlling the parking demand and increasing the parking efficiency rate. This can be done by applying shared parking, limiting the use of private vehicles by hotel/stores staffs on the weekend, and applying progressive parking tariff. Meanwhile, the planned parking building at the cable car station at Gelap Nyawang can also help fulfilling the parking demand. Based on the calculation, the parking building can contain 47,8% of the vehicles generated by Teras Cihampelas.
