Description
Summary:Container service request in Port of Tanjung Perak especially Terminal of Berlian has always increased following the expansion of trade in the Domestic

and International. Problems arise when an increased demand for services in container ships and container are not followed in the adequacy of the facility yard in container terminals. The number of container flows are not accompanied by an increasingly large container yard capacity is sufficient to cause a number of containers piled up at the terminal, thus affecting the dwelling time in port. This research was carried out to analyze and provide an alternative in planning requirement facilities for container terminal of Berlian that owned by the port operators (PT. Berlian Jasa Terminal Indonesia).

The research methodology starts from secondary data collection methods of services data of vessel and container service in 2009-2013 as well as primary data

in the form of interviews and field observations related to systems and procedures of vessel and container. Then performed flow forecasting and container ships in the future be done by the method of time series projection. Forecasting results of the container vessel and used as discussion material related to the queue of vessel

and also the capacity of the container yard. methods of evaluation of services and container ships using queuing theory and the theory of capacity.

In the container vessel service in BerlianTerminal got the result that until 2020, only reached 0.0073 Po ((The probability that the service facility is idle/empty) and Pw (Probability of vessel coming into the system must wait to be served) reached 0,035 followed by the utilization rate reached 45%. Based on these calculations can be concluded that up to 2020 do not need to invest additional equipment Harbour Mobile Crane (HMC).

While in the service of container, the operator can be split into 4 scenarios, so Yard Occupancy Ratio (Yor) remained stable 75%. In the first scenario, the

results found that to achieve Yor 75% with dwelling time of 4.5 days with truck lossing system until 2020 takes the addition of 33.944 m2 large yard with a capacity of 11.145 TEUs. 2nd scenario, it was found that to achieve the results YOR 75% with dwelling time 3 days with truck lossing system needed additional 7.629 m2 yard wide with a capacity of 7.430 TEUs. 3rd scenario, the results found that to achieve YOR 75% with dwelling time of 4.5 days with a full stacking system then takes additional area of 125.523 m2 yard with capacity 24.074 TEUs. 4th scenario, the results found that to achieve YOR 75% with dwelling time 3 days with a full system then takes the addition of extensive stacking yard 68.682 m2 with a capacity of 16.049 TEUs.

The result of this study is the BJTI not need to increase the such as service facility HMC ships until 2020, because the queue of ships up to 2020 is still low. However related service capacity container, BJTI parties should anticipate increased container demand services with the addition of a buildup of land

according to the Master Plan of Port of Tanjung Perak Surabaya. Expansion of the yard should be followed by a decrease in container dwelling time of service, so that the level remains stable YOR 75%.
