The function of this slope as an infrastructure of heavy vehicle transportation that carry mining products from PT Freeport Indonesia. Availability of soil data is very limited, especially for the parameter of pure soil, so back calculation method is used to determine soil parameter using software ABAQUS/CAE 6.11. The limitation of back calculation method in this study is searching the soil parameter when the exact moment of landslide. Criteria that will be achieved is when the safety number ≤ 1 and the field collapse in the model should be same with the field collapse on the topographic map. The result from this back calculation method will be used as reference in designing the slope reinforcement. Pseudostatic analysis is used to determine the seismic forces that occur on the surface of the soil study sites. Reinforced Gabion and Soil Nailing retrofitting for KM 52 slope PT Freeport Indonesia at the depth to 30 meters. The result of this study is slope safety number after retrofitting. Reinforced Gabion retrofitting for the effect of static load generates 1,41 of safety number and the effect of seismic load generates 1,13 of safety number. Soil Nailing retrofitting for the effect of static load generates 1,15 of safety number and the effect of seismic load generates 1,078 of safety number. Based on consideration of safety number and the availability of material on the sites, so the recommendation of design alternative is slope retrofitting using Reinforced Gabion. text
