Indonesia has big opportunity to produce vegetable oil’s derivates such as fatty alcohol. Fatty alcohol produced by hydrogenating FAME using Cu-based catalyst. Commercial catalyst uses copper (Cu) as main metal and chromium (Cr) as the promotor. Since Cr use has been banned due its toxicity, many researchs focuse on finding other metal as Cr replacement. Manganese (Mn) is considered as a good replacement since its environtment friendly and cheaper. <br /> <br /> <br /> The aim of this research is to find kinetic equation of fatty ester hydrogenation to produce fatty alcohol. Catalyst used in this research is commercial catalyst T-4489A R contains 56% CuO, 34% Al2O3, dan 10% MnO2. Fatty Acid Methyl Ester with methyl laurate and methyl miristate as the main ingredients is used as feedstock. The expected products are lauryl alcohol and myristyl alcohol. <br /> <br /> <br /> The research is conducted with temperature range 220-240oC, pressure 50 bar, and Liquid Hourly Space Velocity (LHSV) 5-12,5/hour. The kinetic equation is determined using power law model. The data shows hydrogenation of fatty ester in temperature 230-2400Cfollows 0,5 order model with activation energy 86,32 kJ/mol and Arrhenius constant 5,87.106 M0,5/s. <br /> text
