Summary: | More than 50% of hydrocarbon productions around the world is produced by carbonate reservoir. Carbonate reservoir is difficult to be characterized due to pore type complexity in carbonate rock. Different characteristics between carbonate rocks and sandstone are also an obstacle to apprehend reservoir conditions. The pore type of carbonate rocks, which can be explained using aspect ratio, becomes the research topic that must be done. Aspect ratio modeling is depended by the accuracy of solid rock elastic modulus estimation. The estimation of solid rock elastic modulus’ value is difficult to do due to the limitation of available X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) data. These data contain only mineral fractions information for some depth without any information of the minerals elastic modulus value in the study area. The study area is classified into Ngimbang Formation, North East Java Basin. The estimation of solid rock elastic modulus value is done by combining several approaches such as Krief, Dvorkin, Wang, and Voigt-Reuss-Hill (VRH) models and using J.H. Schön as the final approach. The pore type estimation is done by using Kuster-Toksöz method which reference of aspect ratio values are obtained using Biot Gassmann and Zimmerman approaches. The result shows that rock physics modeling can give good contributions in carbonate rocks pore type identification. The result of Vp and Vs modeling gives minimum error and maximum coefficient correlation and can be used to analyze the relationship between pore type and oil saturated prospective reservoir zones. Further prospective reservoir zones analysis can be performed by connecting the results of pore type analysis on “LGK” well with other wells to find out horizontal pore type relationship. |
