ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECTS OF HYDROLOGICAL DROUGHT ON RIVER WATER QUALITY (Case study : Citarum Hulu Watershed)
Citarum Hulu River is one of the rivers that according to pollution zoning into a highly polluted zone. One of the factors that affect the level of river water pollution is the streamflow. Low-flow resulting from drought can affect water quality through various physical, chemical and biological proc...

Meteorological Drought will be identified by using Reconnaisance Drought Index (RDI) while hydrological drought is identified using Streamflow Drought Index (SDI), then the relationship between RDI and SDI is achieved using simple linear regression on the historical data of both indices. Water quality during the drought period will be investigated and compared with water quality during the wet period. Characterization of water quality to drought is basically to classify water quality parameters based on water quality criteria according to PP No. 82/2001. <br />

The result of this study showed that the 3-months meteorological drought is closely related to the 3-months hydrological drought with multiple R values is 0.63. During drought period, concentration of water quality parameters such as BOD, COD, and TSS increases even though the water quality class is almost the same as a wet period, and generally water quality in Citarum Hulu in both the drought and wet period exceeds the water quality standard required for class II water use. This is related to the reduction of waste dilution capacity during drought conditions. |
