Description
Summary:Surface roughness length is a parameter that is used to characterize the surface roughness. Surface roughness affects wind by slowing it near the surface. This research will determine surface roughness length under different class of incoming solar radiation and wind speed and is conducted on a laboratory scale. Incoming solar radiation and wind speed category follow those in Pasquill atmospheric stability. In this research, insolation category will be replaced with insolation value typical in Indonesia because Pasquill insolation categories are typical in region outside the equator. Surface roughness length is determined for five different land type, namely, asphalt, forest, residential area, crops, and open land. Surface roughness, solar radiation, and wind speed will be simulated in a reactor. Under the combination of these variables, velocity will be measured in 10 positions in the reactor. Surface roughness length is determined by looking how different type of land affects wind profile. On smooth surfaces, one will obtain uniform wind profile. In a rough surface, wind profile slightly deviates from this. Surface roughness length for different categories of insolation and wind speed is the output for thisresearch.
