DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF MOBILE APPLICATION ABOUT SEXUAL HEALTH EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN

Cases of violence against children, particularly sex violence is one of many examples of human <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> rights violations that often happens lately in Indonesia. The lack of sexual health education <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> given to children in early days considered as the primary cause of the occurrence of these <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> incidents. Ironically, this kind of education is not easy to implement into the Indonesian school <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> curriculum. The main reason is because most teachers in Indonesia have not been trained to <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> give a lecture about this topic to students. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Solutions can be found if we start to seek from another learning media, instead of relying on <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> school classes. For example, the booming of mobile application usage recently can be utilized. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Therefore, it is decided that the alternative solution for this problem is to make a mobile <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> application which aims to help children to learn about sexual health education. The material <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> for this lesson will also be arranged specifically for children’s age (will only provides ageappropriate <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> information). However, even though it is designed for children, the main users for <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> this application are the parents. This is because sexual health education is a very sensitive <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> lesson and cannot be given carelessly to anyone, especially to a young child. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The application that will be built is a hybrid mobile application type which developed using <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Ionic 2 framework. This app will provides sexual health education lesson modules, consisting <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> of several instructions. These instructions itself are designed to help parents to explain things <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> easier for their children. Other than that, the app will also provides quiz feature which is used <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> to find out about children’s understanding of the learned lesson. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> There are several steps needed to build this application, starting from a study of literature, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> requirement analysis, detail design based on analysis result, the implementation which produce <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> a prototype, and testing process. The prototype is tested to 30 parents and shows a lot of positive <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> reactions. All respondents said that the lesson of sexual health education within the app is easy <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> to understand and it is an important factor if intended to teach children. All respondents also <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> said that the user interface of the app is easy to understand, making the app is easier to use.
