According to IFPI, global music industry nowadays is dominated by digital music, contradictary to the past where it was dominated by physical music. Distribution of digital music has its own challenge which is piracy and violation of copyright. Convenience of copying technology and usage of digital music into another form of audio visual without having the license are more easily found these days. This problem disadvantageous the music creator especially in term of financial matter. Thus, it is a need to find a proposed business model and supporting technology as alternative solutions to the problem. <br /> <br /> <br /> In this research, proposed business model is designed based on analysis of music industry and the need of the subjects in music industry. Problem analysis covers global music industry in general and Indonesia’s music industry in particular. From the identified problems, gap analysis is done to identify the solution that is applicable. After that, some alternative business models are found in the form of platform in which is a business model that had used by previous subject in music industry. Selection of the proposed business model alternative is done by conducting a feasibility study with criteria adapted to the society characteristics and issues in Indonesia. Proposed business model is designed using tools of business model canvas. Application of the proposed business model needs supporting technology so that the business model would function properly and fulfill the needs of musician and consumer. Proposed technology is defined in form of software requirement specification (SRS). SRS is used to give comprehensive description of the requirement of software in software development. In this research, the prototype development is done in this research to prove the feasibility of the business model and to evaluate the SRS that has been made. <br /> <br /> <br /> The proposed business model is music licensing in form of e-marketplace that can be used to sell music license from independent musician. The proposed business model supports consumer-to-consumer and consumer-to-business transactions. The license that can be sold is syncronization and public performance license. The technology design used in e-marketplace business model is defined in SRS which is comply to IEEE 830-1998 standard. This e-marketplace can be accessed by users through the website media. Through the evaluation using prototype, the business model is feasible to be applied as alternative of music license publication in Indonesia. text |
