Description
Summary:Several researchs about fluids mechanics nowadays is focused on Non-Newtonian fluids. There are some methods in CFD that were developed to determine properties of fluid flow e.g. : finite element method and finite different method. However, dealing with generating grids is quite difficult to handle for the grid-based method like FEM and FDM. Therefore there is growing interest in developing grid-less or mesh-less methods like SPH or Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics. The study is on simulating flow of viscous fluids using SPH methods. The flow properties that have been analysed are flow rate and runout. To generate the flow of viscous fluids, it is used SPHysics ® software through its input parameter modification such as viscosity treatment, density, and equations of state. Some geometric schemes are created to analyse the flow of viscous fluids such as inclined plane, terasering, and blocking wall. It is obtained that the flow of viscous fluids can be resisted by the geometries. Each geometric scheme has its own effectiveness to resist the flow.
