The principle of the former drainage channel is the disposal as soon as possible falling rain water so as not to inundate a location. But over the times, the drainage system is no longer water disposal as soon as possible from a location not to be inundated. It is known as environmentally friendly drainage. The drainage system for Surabaya Purabaya Terminal is designed using environmentally friendly drainage principle, with the addition of rainwater harvesting system to accommodate rainwater so that it can be directly utilized. By the concept of environmentally friendly drainage, the excess rain water is not immediately disposed to the nearest river so that the possibility of flooding / puddle in the relevant location, downstream floods and droughts in the upstream can be reduced. The design of drainage system for Purabaya Terminal consists of two types: type I which is the primary / collector channel and type II which is a secondary channel. The type I channels are divided into open and closed channels. The Type II channels consist only open channels. Channels designed across the road surface are closed-channel type and channel-by-street channels are open channel type.Rainwater harvesting systems designed are storage capacity, gutter and pipe. text
